FMF's message looks to contribute to alleviating the suffering of vulnerable people in society and enabling them to access comprehensive health, education, and developmental services through building effective partnerships, mobilizing and investing resources and volunteer efforts, and directing them toward implementing sustainable development and initiatives programs in accordance with best practices and policies of humanitarian action.

BACKGROUND

With support from Oxfam, Field Medical Foundation (FMF) is implementing a project in Marib, funded by DGD. From the beginning of this year, FMF has started this project in partnership with Oxfam. The project's key objectives are to promote resilience, empower communities, and strengthen their self-protection capacities. FMF and Oxfam, will jointly implement the advocacy component of this project, with a primary goal of enhancing the capacities of civil society organizations (CSOs) in Marib.
The governorate of Marib, which is divided by the frontline, has faced significant increase in displacement since 2021. Currently, 90 percent of its 1.6 million residents are internally displaced, and the number of displaced communities continues to rise as the conflict persists. This ongoing situation has exacerbated vulnerabilities that affect every aspect of people’s lives, this training will aim to equip participants with the right set of skills in understanding strategies of mitigating conflict and strengthening skills in conflict mediation, running dialogues, and improving negotiations skills.

Objective of the Training:

The training aims to scale up CSO and other community-based orgs, WROs, and the executive unit as well as camp coordination units in Marib capacities in the area of conflict resolution.

Scope of trainingactivity:

1. Develop an understanding around conflict and what does it mean?

Understand Conflict Dynamics: Gain insights into different types of conflicts, their deep-rooted causes, and the stages of conflict cycles.
2. Understand the concept of conflict Sensitivity in humanitarian response

Conduct Context Analysis: Learn how to analyze the context of conflicts, including the impact on affected populations, and articulate findings that leads towards resolving conflicts.
Understand Power Dynamics: Explore the role of power imbalances in conflicts and their influence on humanitarian efforts.
3. Better delve in conflict resolution concepts

Facilitate Dialogues and Mediations: Learn techniques for running effective dialogues and mediation sessions between different actors.
Adhere to Humanitarian Principles: Understand and apply core humanitarian principles in conflict resolution.
Build Local Capacity: Develop strategies to strengthen the capacity of local actors and communities in promoting peace and resolving conflicts.
Prevent Conflicts: further explore in understanding different methods for preventing conflicts and employing tools for effective conflict resolution.
4. Improve Negotiation Skills

Navigate Humanitarian Negotiations: Understand the complexities and challenges specific to humanitarian negotiations.
Develop Negotiation Objectives: Learn to set clear objectives and strategies for successful negotiations.
Lead Effective Negotiations: accrue techniques for leading negotiations, including forming alliances, crafting persuasive arguments, adopting tactics for successful negotiations.
Monitor and Evaluate Negotiations: Gain skills in monitoring the progress of negotiations and evaluating their outcomes for addressing gaps and further improving ways for negotiations).
Training Methodology:

The training will contain:

Face to face training Interactive training (case studies, scenario analysis)
Group discussions and peer learning
Exercises and practical sessions on negotiations.
Target audience

The training will target up to 50 individuals from civil society organizations and women’s rights groups, executive unit for IDP camp management. This will help them address specific challenges and advocate more effectively within the context of Marib.

Deliverables And Responsibilities for The Consultant

Develop training materials in Arabic and English – presentation and training manual with technical review of FMF.
Deliver 2–3-day training.
Develop a training report on this activity. The report shall be based on the following structure (Executive summary Introduction and purpose of the trainingsworkshop, Approach and methodology, Findings and analysis, Conclusions, and recommendations
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum education of bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university. (Attach certificates).
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in conflict resolution, reconciliation or peace-building. As well as proven experience in designing and facilitating trainings. (Attach references or documentation of previous training engagements).
A Yemeni National with clear understanding Yemen context, including, social protection and inclusion. (Attach samples of previous training reports).
